A forestry worker in Poland’s Bieszczady Mountains was forced to climb a tree after encountering a pack of aggressive wolves, according to TN.cz, citing the Polish news site Fakt.pl. The alarming incident occurred near the village of Komańcza, an area that has seen a growing number of wolf-related encounters in recent months.

The man was performing routine work in the forest when he stumbled upon a pack of wolves sunbathing in a clearing. While three of the animals quickly disappeared into the nearby underbrush, a fourth wolf exhibited hostile behavior, showing its teeth and bristling its fur.

“The wolf began to approach, snarling and preparing to attack,” reported representatives from the Polish Institute of Environmental Analysis. “The man had no choice but to climb a tree and wait for help.”

Eventually, the worker managed to call a friend, who arrived at the scene on a tractor after a tense wait. Experts confirmed the presence of wolf tracks and scratches at the site. Further analysis later revealed that a total of six wolves had been involved.

The incident is part of a troubling pattern—at least 12 similar encounters have been recorded in the region near Komańcza, raising concerns among both locals and environmental authorities.
