In a powerful statement following the “Coalition of the Willing” summit in Paris, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Vladimir Putin has no interest in peace and is actively trying to fracture the unity between the United States and Europe regarding support for Ukraine.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Zelenskyy warned that the Kremlin’s goal is not just military victory, but political division. “Putin’s machine has been working for over a year to divide Europe, split the EU, and destabilize U.S. support for Ukraine from within,” he said.
According to Zelenskyy, the recent summit—which gathered representatives from over 30 countries—was a clear success. He emphasized that, despite minor differences among member states, their commitment to Ukraine’s defense and security remains strong.
“We are united by a shared purpose: support for Ukraine and long-term security guarantees,” he told reporters.
A Message to Moscow: Ukraine Will Not Back Down
The summit delivered a clear warning to Russia: Ukraine’s military capabilities and sovereignty will not be compromised. European leaders collectively agreed that a strong Ukrainian military is critical for the country’s future stability.
Zelenskyy believes the United States must adopt the same approach, reinforcing that Ukraine will never recognize its occupied territories as Russian. He added that while many ideas exist regarding future security frameworks, concrete answers are still lacking—though progress is expected in upcoming discussions.
U.S. Partnership on Critical Resources
The Ukrainian president also addressed a developing agreement with the United States concerning the extraction of Ukrainian mineral resources. Initially expected to be signed during his last visit to the White House, the framework deal was postponed.
Now, Zelenskyy says, U.S. legal teams are reviewing updated proposals. “I don’t want the U.S. to think Ukraine is resistant,” he added. “We have consistently expressed our willingness and signaled positively.”
