A dangerous synthetic drug known as N-ethylpentedrone (NEP), similar in effect to cocaine, is raising alarm in Poland after causing multiple fatalities. Despite its lethal potential, the substance remains legal in neighboring Czech Republic, sparking concern among law enforcement and public health officials.

According to LiveWorldUpdates.com, Polish authorities have issued urgent warnings after several users died from consuming NEP. The drug, a potent psychoactive stimulant, significantly affects the central nervous system and can lead to severe disorientation, hallucinations, violent behavior, or suicidal thoughts.

Poland’s Chief Sanitary Inspectorate has issued an official government alert, echoed by major media outlets with headlines such as “Beware of the new drug! It can kill.” The wave of concern has reached across borders, prompting the Czech National Drug Enforcement Agency to warn the public as well.

NEP belongs to a class of synthetic cathinones often marketed as “legal highs” or “research chemicals.” These substances are designed to mimic the effects of cocaine or MDMA but often pose far greater risks due to inconsistent dosages and a lack of regulation.

Although Poland is moving swiftly to ban the substance, NEP is not currently listed as illegal in the Czech Republic, highlighting a dangerous legal gap. Experts warn that its accessibility could lead to a surge in usage and fatalities if not addressed urgently.

Health authorities in both countries urge citizens to stay informed and avoid experimenting with unknown substances, especially those marketed online or through illicit street sources.
