The death toll from the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28 has risen to over 3,300, according to local state media. The United Nations has once again urged the international community to deliver immediate humanitarian aid to the disaster-stricken nation.

The 7.7-magnitude quake flattened buildings, destroyed infrastructure, and caused widespread devastation across the country. As of Saturday, 3,354 people have been confirmed dead, with 4,508 injured and around 220 still missing.

More than a week after the catastrophe, thousands remain without shelter. Many survivors are sleeping outdoors—either because their homes were destroyed or out of fear of aftershocks. Humanitarian agencies warn that conditions are worsening, especially in remote and already conflict-ridden regions.

“The earthquake could affect more than three million people, compounding an already dire humanitarian crisis,” the UN stated, referencing the severe toll taken by four years of civil war in Myanmar.

The call for aid comes amid logistical and political challenges, with limited access to certain regions and ongoing unrest complicating relief efforts. The international community is being urged to mobilize quickly to prevent further suffering.
