Russian missile strikes on Kyiv continued early Sunday, just two days after a deadly attack killed 18 people in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to city officials, at least three people were injured in the capital, and the strikes triggered fires and damaged multiple vehicles.

“Explosions in the capital. Air defense is active. Missile attack on Kyiv is ongoing. Stay in shelters!” warned Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko via Telegram.

The latest wave of attacks coincides with ongoing diplomatic pressure from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is reportedly pushing for a partial ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. In response to the escalating threat, Poland’s military confirmed that it has begun joint air operations with allied forces over Western Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy strongly criticized the U.S. Embassy’s response to the Kryvyi Rih attack, calling it “weak” and “unexpectedly disappointing.” Among the victims of the earlier strike were several children, aged between 3 and 17 years.

“Such a strong country, such a powerful nation, and such a weak reaction,” Zelenskyy remarked.

Despite the continued assaults, Zelenskyy noted “tangible progress” following meetings with British and French military leaders in Kyiv. Discussions reportedly focused on deploying security forces from London and Paris to Ukraine if a peace agreement is reached.
