Czech police will roll out a nationwide speed enforcement operation on Wednesday, April 9, as part of the annual Speed Marathon 2025 campaign. The 24-hour initiative will involve radar checks at over 1,000 locations across the country and aims to improve road safety by cracking down on speeding and other traffic offenses.

The marathon is part of a week-long European road safety operation, running from April 7 to April 13, focusing specifically on speed monitoring.

“The locations were not selected solely by officers—citizens were also invited to suggest danger zones,” said Violeta Siřišťová, spokesperson for the Police Presidium.

Key checkpoints include 40 radar sites in Prague, approximately 200 in the Central Bohemian Region, 130 in the Ústí Region, and over 100 in South Moravia, according to the list published by the Czech police.

The operation officially begins at midnight on April 9 and continues nonstop for 24 hours. Though speed is the primary focus, police will also monitor seatbelt use, distracted driving, and vehicle technical conditions.

The Speed Marathon is coordinated in cooperation with European traffic authorities and is designed to raise public awareness while reducing accidents caused by speeding. Drivers can view a full list of monitoring points on the official Czech Police website.
