French President Emmanuel Macron has issued a strong call for Russia to cease hostilities and agree to an immediate, unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine, warning against the Kremlin’s continued use of stalling tactics. Speaking during a summit in Cairo focused on Middle East peace efforts, Macron emphasized the urgent need to end the war in Ukraine and secure lasting stability in Europe.
“Russia has not only refused to accept a ceasefire for nearly a month—it has escalated its attacks on civilians,” Macron said on Monday, referencing recent deadly strikes in Ukraine. His remarks come amid growing international pressure for a resolution to the conflict that has raged since February 2022.
Macron expressed support for the ceasefire proposal put forward by U.S. President Donald Trump, calling it a necessary step toward peace and regional security. “We support President Trump’s efforts to bring this war to an end.
