Slovak politicians Eduard Heger, former Prime Minister, and Jaroslav Naď, former Defense Minister and current leader of the Demokrati party, have received a chilling death threat via email, prompting public concern and renewed debate over political intimidation in the country.

On Tuesday, Naď revealed the disturbing message on social media, sharing that the anonymous sender threatened to kill both him and Heger, claiming that explosives had been planted in their homes. The email, sent late Monday night (April 7), ominously warned:
“I swear that both of you will die on Tuesday!!!”, and stated the alleged explosion would occur at 9:30 AM.

Shortly before the supposed detonation time on April 8, Naď went public with the threat, denouncing the frequent death threats he and his colleagues receive.
“Almost every week, we face threats of being shot, bombed, hanged, or attacked in car accidents,” he wrote. “They threaten our families, our children—anything they can.”

While it’s unclear whether authorities treated the bomb threat as credible, Naď expressed frustration with the police, accusing them of being preoccupied with politically motivated investigations rather than addressing actual threats.

“We no longer even bother turning to the police,” Naď stated. “They’re too busy trying to imprison opposition figures at the behest of the Fico-led government, instead of dealing with real criminals.”

Naď emphasized that he and Heger will not be silenced or intimidated, vowing to continue exposing what he described as “theft and corruption” in the current administration.
“We’ll go after them like smoke,” he declared.

The incident underscores the growing toxicity and polarization in Slovak politics, raising alarms about political violence and the safety of public officials.
