British authorities have charged a 33-year-old man with preparing an act of terrorism following an attempted breach of the Israeli Embassy in London. The suspect, identified as Abdullah Sabah Albadri, was also charged with possessing a bladed article, according to police statements released on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Monday evening, when Albadri allegedly tried to gain unauthorized access to the embassy’s premises. He was arrested at the scene for public order offenses, trespassing, and carrying an offensive weapon. No injuries were reported, and the embassy building remained undamaged.
Commander Dominic Murphy of London’s Counter Terrorism Command emphasized that authorities are not seeking additional suspects. “We remain in close contact with officials at the Israeli Embassy,” Murphy said. “Our investigation does not indicate any further threat to the public at this time.”
The Israeli Embassy in London expressed gratitude for the swift response by British security forces. “We thank UK authorities for their immediate action and continued commitment to ensuring the security of our diplomatic mission,” the embassy said in a statement on platform X (formerly Twitter).
The embassy further stated that it would not be intimidated by threats of violence. “The Israeli Embassy will continue to proudly represent Israel in the United Kingdom despite any attempts at intimidation,” the statement concluded.
