A tragic early-morning highway crash in southern Turkey left seven people dead and 11 others injured after an intercity passenger bus collided with a halted truck, according to local authorities.
The fatal accident occurred on the major route connecting the cities of Adana and Gaziantep, a busy corridor in the region. Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that the truck had stopped after suffering a tire blowout, leaving its trailer stationary on the roadway. Moments later, the speeding passenger bus plowed directly into the trailer, causing catastrophic damage and mass casualties.
Officials from the governor’s office in Osmaniye Province confirmed that emergency teams were still working to identify the victims. The injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals, several in serious condition.
Authorities have detained the truck driver, who survived the crash, as police investigate whether proper safety measures were taken after the vehicle stopped. Officers also shut down the road, disrupting traffic for hours as crews cleared the wreckage.
