Paraguay’s Olympic delegation is facing an unexpected scandal after 20-year-old swimmer and social-media star Luana Alonsová was reportedly removed from the Olympic Village in Paris for creating what team officials described as an “inappropriate atmosphere.”

The young athlete — who boasts nearly 500,000 followers online — had already drawn attention before the Games when she tattooed the Olympic rings in her bikini area, sparking a wave of reactions across South America.

A Short Olympic Run Followed by Abrupt Retirement

Alonsová competed in the 100-meter butterfly, where she narrowly missed advancing to the semifinals. Soon after failing to qualify, she shocked supporters by announcing her retirement from professional swimming, citing her Olympic disappointment.

But it was what happened next that escalated tensions inside the Paraguayan delegation.

Sightseeing Instead of Team Duties

According to reports from ynetnews.com, while the rest of her team focused on training and Olympic responsibilities, Alonsová embarked on a personal Parisian tour — visiting tourist hotspots, social events, and even Disneyland.

Team officials were reportedly frustrated that she skipped team obligations, choosing instead to document her Paris adventures online.

Adding fuel to the fire, she allegedly refused to wear official team attire, appearing instead in her own outfits during public events, something the Paraguayan delegation considered disrespectful and unprofessional.

Removed for “Atmosphere Issues”

Sources within the team claim Alonsová’s behavior created a “negative” or “inappropriate atmosphere” inside the Olympic Village — a serious accusation in an environment built on discipline, focus, and national representation.

While the Paraguayan Olympic Committee has not yet issued a formal statement, insiders say the decision to expel her from the Village was made to prevent further disruption.

What remains unclear is whether Alonsová plans to address the controversy publicly after her abrupt exit and retirement.
